I am a photographer with a passion for the outdoors, nature and conservation. My heart has always belonged in the more wild and remote areas of the countryside but during 2020 I have discovered an unexpected joy in really getting to know my local area through the changing seasons. Creating images using photography and watercolour has become a mindful process that helps me find a sense of calm in an increasingly chaotic world.

Being happiest when outdoors I take my creative inspiration from the natural world. Drawn to light, shapes and patterns, my aim is to capture the essence of what I am feeling when I make an image. In my photographic work I am instinctively attracted to creative techniques such as ICM, multiple exposure, and defocusing as they give me a more emotive way to explore and express my connection to nature than a representational approach.

I hope that by sharing my images I can inspire a greater awareness of the beauty of nature and the need to protect it.

The natural world has always been a fascination to me. That the simple rules of evolution and natural selection have created a living world so diverse, beautiful and complex I find mind boggling. Similarly standing on a shoreline and feeling the raw power of nature, or looking at the stars and realising the immensity of our universe is awe-inspiring.

I have also always loved having a camera in my hand and enjoyed the thrill of capturing some of this beauty.

Combining these passions has, over the years, been a wonderful antidote to the stresses of a career as a veterinary surgeon, providing a space where I can feel totally absorbed and lost in the moment.

I am now enjoying having more time to devote to photography and developing my own style, experimenting with techniques such as focus stacking and intentional camera movement to open up more creative possibilities.
